Kurun Warun was born in Australia in 1966. He is a member of the indigenous Guntijamara tribe and is a fifth generation direct descendant of Truganini, the last Tasmanian indigenous queen. Kurun Warun, whose name means “Hissing Swan”, lives in the Noosa hinterland in South East Queensland.

Kurun is renowned for his exceptional dot art and as a talented didgeridoo musician. He was just eight years of age when he became a sought after artist, and he continues to develop his expression of culture through his art and music. The traditional aboriginal stories depicted in his art are not always immediately apparent, but within the colours, lines and space we are led through an underlying meaning.

As an accomplished didgeridoo musician Kurun has performed around the word in places such as Italy and Korea. He has appeared on NBC television in the United States and has performed for Chelsea Clinton, former US president’s daughter. For the Sydney 2000 Olympic games he was involved as a traditional artist, and during Oprah Winfrey’s “Ultimate Australian Adventure” Kurun was invited to her private party where he performed traditional aboriginal dance for her and her guests.

Kurun’s artwork has been presented around the world, and is featured in the collections of known public figures and celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Brightman and Michael Schumacher.
